Tinsel in a Tangle

Tinsel in a Tangle was a wonderful event last night. The tables were stunningly decorated, it felt like Christmas was here. There seemed to be a million different salads, all of which looked delicious. A salad supper is always a good idea because you don’t have to feel bad about what you ate for dinner. The 2bc Women are a gift.

The presenters were, as always, impressive. We learned how to decorate a table and make it look like a picture out of a magazine. God blessed these women with a real talent. Maybe this year I’ll do better than the traditional paper plates with minimal décor on the table. Normally I’m doing well if I have my tree up before the celebration begins. Also, this year I’m going to try and wrap presents with a little more care. One of the talented presenters showed us countless ways to inexpensively wrap gifts. I, along with many others, took pictures so we wouldn’t forget. She showed an example of what not to do and it looked strangely like most of the gifts under my tree.

The speaker was a inspiring.  Ginger Morgan spoke about keeping Christ in Christmas. Here are the highlights of her talk.

C – Celebrate Christ
We should think about giving forgiveness at Christmas, you just might get a gift in return. We could start a prayer journal. We can commit to time to spend with the Lord. We could give up something that we’ve been convicted about. There are lots of things that won’t financially cost us a thing and could bring more joy than imaginable.

H - Handle finances wisely
We have to keep focus without fretting and worrying about money at Christmas. We can start now with a budget and stick to it.  Pray about gifts and commitments at Christmas.

R - Remember those less fortunate and those who need to know you care.
Be the hands and feet of Jesus. This is something that doesn't have to cost anything and can change lives forever.

 I - Intentional with focus.
Grasp meaning of Christmas. You can't control commercialism but you can have influence your children and others with intentional actions. There are many teachable moments at Christmas, don’t let them go to waste.

S - Slow down.
Don't get so busy with good things that you forget the great things. Sit down and worship at the feet of Jesus. If you want more time at Christmas, take a fast from technology in December. You'll have more time to worship The Lord.

T - Traditions.
This is so important for the family unit. It brings security and sense of belonging. It imparts family values. Create things that can be carried on for generations.

These things won’t happen unless you make them happen. Be sure you keep Christ in Christmas.

If you weren’t there, you really missed a treat. It was a special event from the beginning to the end. It really helped me and I hope others get focused on what’s important this and every Christmas season. Thank you all who came out and special thanks to those who decorated tables, and made salads.
